Hey guys! I want you all to know that I have crappy training days. :) Yep..I totally just said that. Sometimes my dogs drive me totally crazy. I share a lot of positive success stories on my page because I want this to be a place of great stuff and encouragement.
I do recognize that struggling daily with a badly behaved dog can be absolutely exhausting both mentally, and physically. Failing in the dog training world, is really all about perspective though. When I am working at training a dog a certain command, and I fail to achieve the result I am looking for, I have to problem solve in order to encourage the dog to follow through with the command. It can be a rough training session for both the dog and myself until we both can communicate effectively with one another. Failing can be a blessing in disguise. One day it's a tough training session, and the next everything just clicks into place. -Last week I was really having hard time getting Bollywood to just "heel" calmly. Today, I was able to get him to do some off leash remote collar heeling....I'm really pleased with that result, but that didn't just come out of nowhere. Today's success came from my determination and problem solving. Bolly and I are on a path of training together. Some days are easier than others...I just keep working at it.
It's important to trust your gut, talk out your struggle with a confidant, and even reach out for professional help if you genuinely are ready. I think it's important for all of you to know that you are not alone in your struggle to better communicate between yourself and your dogs. ;) I am right here with ya my dears!
