Those of you who have been following me and/or those of you who have trained with me, might be aware that I have been struggling with chronic pain in my hip and lower back for nearly a decade. Fun news! I've been working closely with a really awesome doctor for the past five weeks, and I am THRILLED to report, I am feeling better!
If you're out there struggling with chronic pain, you're probably wondering what magical pill I was prescribed... Here it is!!! Digestive enzymes, and a major change in my diet: only grass fed lamb, free range organic chicken, wild caught fish, veggies, fruit, organic olive oil and a variety of rice....You get the idea. No more processed food. Gluten and dairy free goodness only. (Oh and no nightshade veggies, tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, they're believed to cause arthritic inflammation in some people).
Do I miss cheese? Hell yeah I do. But I sure don't miss limping around, or being barely able to put on my socks. I wouldn't trade my mobility for cheese. To me, it's not worth the gamble...side note, you know you're getting older when eating cheese becomes a "gamble".
I am also in the process of purging negativity from my life. Dramatic disputes amongst the folks in my life have always bored me anyway, so this has been one of the easier aspects of my lifestyle to change. To be honest, I miss cheese more than the negative people. 😂
I purposefully scheduled my "vacation" from dog training so that I could test previously eliminated foods which may be contributing to my joint inflammation. Sounds like fun right? 😂 It's not. For the past three days I have been methodically testing gluten. I'll spare you the gritty details...bottom line, wheat and I need to break up permanently.
There are two reasons I am sharing this update with you all. One is because I KNOW I'm not the only person struggling daily with chronic pain. Maybe you or someone you know are struggling as well. If so, I invite you to check out this particular group of doctors in Manhattan: www.innersourcehealth.com The second reason is because I haven't been as prompt in responding to everyone as I would like. For those of you who have experienced any delay in communication from me, I am sorry. Good service is VERY important. Prompt communication is a crucial component to good service. I will improve.
Additionally, this is a recent article regarding chronic pain, and the factors which can contribute to either worsening the pain, or lessening the pain.
Thank you all for your patience, and encouragement during my journey toward wellness. 😍
